Outlandishly fascinating investigation of how we mined coal and the dangers that unfolded. Some slightly speculative guesstimating on certain events but undoubtedly the best explanation for the way of coal mining and how it developed through time.
The format of looking at coal mining and then investigating an explosion at a pit is amazingly dramatic and frankly very engaging.
If you want to learn a thing or two get this DVD.

The film starts off with 'In 1910 over ten million tons of coal were mined in the United Kingdom. The price. The death of 344 men and boys at the Pretoria Pit near Bolton, England' which is truly astounding. The film makers take you down a mine and show you how coal was once excavated. Then they investigate the explosion at Pretoria. This is a great documentary about the history of coal mining and I would recommend it to everyone.
